STAPLEFORD PARK: A STUNNING WEDDING VENUE IN LEICESTERSHIRE

Stapleford Park is a luxurious country house hotel located in the heart of Leicestershire, England. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 14th century and has been home to many notable figures throughout the centuries, including Queen Elizabeth I, who visited the estate in the late 16th century.

The History of Stapleford Park

Stapleford Park, located in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, is a historic country house and estate that has been transformed into a luxury hotel and spa. The history of Stapleford Park dates back several centuries, and it has a rich and storied past.

The earliest recorded history of Stapleford Park can be traced back to the 14th century. In 1324, the estate was owned by the de Grey family. In 1390, it was purchased by Sir John de la Bere, who built the original house on the site. Over the centuries, the property changed hands multiple times and underwent several transformations and expansions.

One of the most significant periods in Stapleford Park's history was during the late 17th century when it was owned by the Sherard family. In 1664, Sir Roger Cave married Elizabeth Sherard and took on the name Sherard. The Sherards made substantial improvements to the estate, including the creation of extensive gardens and landscaping.

In the 19th century, the house was redesigned in the Jacobean Revival style by architect George Stovin. The Stapleford Park house that stands today is largely the result of Stovin's work, which added distinctive architectural features to the property.

During World War II, Stapleford Park was used as a military hospital and later as a teacher training college. It was in a state of disrepair until it was purchased in the 1980s by the Grussing family, who embarked on an extensive restoration project to return the estate to its former grandeur.

In 2000, Stapleford Park was opened as a luxury country house hotel and golf resort. It has since become a renowned destination for weddings, special events, and relaxation in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside. The hotel offers a combination of historic charm, modern amenities, and beautiful landscapes that make it a popular choice for travelers seeking a taste of English country living.

Stapleford Park is not only known for its luxurious accommodations but also for its golf course, spa, and outdoor activities. The estate's well-preserved gardens and parkland, including a lake and woodlands, make it a picturesque and tranquil retreat for guests.
